Hello! Im currently making my second fursuit.I noticed a lot of people prefer to shave fur instead of getting a material that is already fuzzy. I was wondering if there was a specific reason for that? Is it okay to just use minky for the areas with short fur or would it look too cheap, patchy?

Well i can think of a few reasons! Batches of minky are never if not rarely dyed to the same exact colour as the faux fur you may be using, so it may end up looking like the colours are slightly off. Another thing is, is that minky is stretchy (and somewhat translucent?) and can show the foam and pen markings underneath. While minky is soft, yes, it also is a different texture than faux fur, faux fur is more densely packed to the backing while minky is thinner and lighter.
Technically theres nothing wrong with it, and you can use it if you like! Every maker makes differently, but those are the reasons i could see why not to! Have fun making your 2nd suit!! ^w^
