fursuit head bags!

Post by CAT »

at the beginning of this month i finished my first head bag!

for how simple of a project they are, i feel they are way less common than they should be! honestly the most nerve wrecking part was cutting the DTD for the bag off of my favorite personal suit, other than that it's a super straight forward and quick process.

some process photos!

since this was a quick learning project project for my own suit, there's some cosmetic flaws (crooked zipper, slightly mismatched seams, etc). i'm going to take the next bag slower to make sure it comes out just as intended now that i have the basis down ^.^ i also intend on lining the next one to be more protective.

tutorials i found useful throughout the process:
  • matrices' tutorial (written guide with photos) [x]
  • neffertity's tutorial (video guide, shows multiple head types) [x]

would love to see bags made by others or just generally discuss fursuit head bag making! there's so much potential for cool technique and design with these and i'm looking forward to making my next one a bit more exciting :3

it took me about 2.5 weeks real time starting from pattern to completion, with maybe 8> hours of time spent working? now that i'm familiar with the materials used and process i should be able to go faster, but my next is lined so who knows!

the biggest delay in the process was waiting for my zipper to come in since i didn't want to order it before patterning to be sure on the ideal size.
