Birdwatching?

Anyone else a fan of birdwatching? Since I'm rural I get a lot of neat birds. To name a few of my favorites (aside from the obvious sparrows) spotted here:
- Family of Red-Tailed Hawks
- LOTS of our state bird, Brown Thrashers
- Barn, Eastern Screech, and Barred owls (though when I lived in Florida I was near a protected nest of burrowing owls, aww)
- Herons and egrets that I struggle to identify when they're flying overhead...

And recently I put up a nest box for purple martins so I'm crossing my fingers we see some in the next couple of years!

Yesss! We don't live in a rural area, and I'm not familiar with a lot of the New England birds anymore, but still love seeing what we can find around our neighborhood :) Lots of black-capped and chestnut-backed chickadees to watch, as well as nuthatches and Steller's jays. Some lucky sightings/hearing that we've had have been a golden-crowned kinglet along one of our streets on the way to work, and a green-winged teal pair hanging out at a pond in our apartment complex! We also recently went on a trip to a more rural area and heard a pair of great horned owls calling to each other after dark, which was awesome considering I've only ever heard barred owls and barn owls before.

I loveee birdwatching when I can!! I've lived in a lot of different places (GA, FL, PR, MA) and have seen a lot of different species because of it!
A couple notable birds include:
- Coopers Hawk that has decided to nest next to my work
- Eqyptian Goose I saw in Spain
-Monk parakeets in Spain (my personal favorite bird I was sooo over the moon when I saw them, their nests are HUGE)
- Magnificent Frigatebird in the Dominican Republic
-Wild Blue and Yellow Macaws in Puerto Rico
- Puerto Rican Owl

I have seen some barred owls in captivity, but I really wanna see them in the wild. My dream is to one day catch a glimpse of a barn owl in the wild (also I'm so jealous of your burrowing owl experience....so cute). I haven't had much time to actually bird watch in a long time, but I'm hoping having recently joined a bird watching club at work, when the weather warms up it will fix that.
