Making Velcro Eyelids
Velcro eyelids are really easy and really fun to make! They can be made for existing fursuit heads, as long as there is some felt or a similar fuzzy material for the velcro to catch onto. You will need:
- Your finished fursuit head
- Felt
- Hook-and-loop thick velcro
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Short faux fur, fleece, minky, or any other material for the eyelids (I used shaved faux fur)
Cut your eyelid shape out of felt once you're happy with it. You may want to trace it out on the felt using a colored pencil before cutting it out.
Cut two pieces of hook-and-loop velcro out of your shape, one flipped. Make sure they are a tiny bit smaller than your felt shapes. If your velcro is not thick enough, you'll have to cut two pieces of velcro out.
Draw out where you would like the black felt line to be on your eyelids. I highly recommend this as it really helps to define the fursuit eye.
Cut the template along this line. Cut the top part out of whatever fabric you'd like. I used faux fur, but fleece or minky are easy to acquire. Get creative! You can use glittery fabric, cut out a toony highlight, airbrush or paint it, you've got endless options. Glue your material onto the eyelid base.
Use the lower part of your pattern to cut out the felt line.
Glue the felt line on. You're done!
Go rock your brand new eyelids!
