Where to Start

You've decided to make your first fursuit! Exciting!
If you don't know the first thing about sewing or crafting, you might feel a bit lost. However, YOU CAN DO THIS!!!
Doesn't matter if you've never touched a sewing needle before. Doesn't matter if you have a limited artistic background. I believe that ANYONE can successfully make a fursuit, as long as they are motivated enough and are willing to put in the effort. That's why I created this website!

For me, making fursuits is extremely rewarding and fulfilling. Getting to hand-craft a physical and wearable version of a character and getting to watch it come to life before your very eyes is magical and I will never become phased by it.

It doesn't have to be daunting! I do my best to break everything up into bite-sized pieces. If you're ready to take the plunge, do your research first.
Learn the terminology to describe what you want to make (A toony mini partial with armsleeves? A realistic digitigrade fullsuit with indoor feetpaws?). Familiarize yourself with the various materials and options for crafting.

Learn to sew, make your very first stitches, and then put those new sewing skills to use to make your very own tail. A simple tail is a wonderful first sewing project! Then, try some handpaws, and optionally a pair of armsleeves.

If you're feeling ready, try a head. You've warmed up with some other parts and will have a ready-to-wear partial fursuit when finished. From there, you can upgrade to a fullsuit with some feetpaws and a bodysuit if you desire. Making the head may seem scary at first, but like I said, YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

Getting to wear a fursuit YOU made at a con is incredibly fun. When people ask who made your suit, you can say that YOU DID! Those sewing and crafting skills can also be used for other purposes too: repairing clothing, making gifts for friends and family, making everyday objects for yourself, etc.

You don't have to do this alone. The community Discord server is a great place to ask for advice, help, or feedback, or to meet others with an interest in fursuit making. Above all, don't give up :) it will be worth it!
