Making a Head Pocket
A head pocket is great for storing your valuables while suiting, especially at events! It's great for storing things like a hotel room key, stickers, or even your phone! A head pocket can be added onto existing heads, provided there is enough space on the neck.
You will need:
Fold all the edges, pin or clip, and sew, either with a sewing machine or by hand with a backstitch. This is a hem, and is made to protect the edge of the fabric from fraying. This is only necessary if you are using a fabric that can fray, such as the cotton fabric I am using.
I doubled each fold (folding it once, then again to protect the raw edge completely) and did one side at a time: first the sides, then the bottom, then the top. This is a great opportunity to add a tag if you have them!
When all of your sides are hemmed, pin the fabric into place on the neck and handsew around the edge with a blanket stitch, leaving the top open.
All done! This pocket fits my iPhone SE quite nicely with a bit of extra room. It also fits this bulky battery pack I have. Lots of space for items!
You will need:
- Fabric for the pocket (I used a cotton print, but you can use other fabrics like neoprene)
- Needle and thread (sewing machine optional)
- Scissors
