Fursuit NFC Tags

An NFC tag, or a near-field communication tag, is a little chip that stores a small amount of data, such as a URL. Whenever a device that can read NFC tags (such as a modern smartphone) gets close to one, the tag will transmit the data to the device, and you can open up the URL.

With an NFC tag, you can easily share your social media page or website in suit without fumbling around for your phone! You can get a few dozen of them on Amazon for under $15.

I like installing NFC tags in noses, but if you have a resin or 3D printed nose, you can install them on top of your muzzle, inside a paw pad, inside a tongue, or on the muzzle bridge. Alternatively, you can get NFC tags with adhesive to place on a badge. I prefer non-adhesive tags for installing inside fursuits.

To write to an NFC tag, I use the app NFC tools. It is a free app for both iOS and Android.

When you open the app, hit "Write".

Go to "URL", not "Custom URL".

Open "Add a record" and type in your URL. Then hit "Write", and bring your phone to the NFC tag. You're written to an NFC tag! If you ever want to change the URL, you can follow this same process.

I don't use any glue directly on my NFC tags. I glue the area around it to secure it in place instead.

It's fun to ask people to boop your nose to share your socials! I have mine set up to link to my website. Have fun!
